Madison River Brewing Company, Inc. was founded in September 2004 as Great Brewing, LLC. It was originally a contract brewery for Moab, Park City, and Big Hole breweries. In approximately July of 2005, we received our state license to brew our own brands, and Madison River Brewing Company, Inc. was born.

Our first beer was the Hopper Pale Ale, which came out in September of 2005. After the Hopper Pale Ale, we came out with Salmon Fly Honey Rye, Cooper John Scotch Ale, Irresistible ESB (which later was changed to Irresistible Amber), and finally Yellow Humpy Hefeweizen. Our beers were originally available only as draft.

Our first bottles, Hopper Pale Ale and Salmon Fly Honey Ry were introduced to the market in September of 2006. Our Copper John Scotch Ale and Irresistible Amber Ale were introduced in bottles in December of 2007.

Our beers were first available only in and around the Bozeman market through Cardinal Distributing. Since then, we have expanded to Billings, Helena, Great Falls, Butte and Missoula through Intermountain Distributing, Gusto Distributing, and Summit Beverage. We hope to be available statewide by the end of 2008.
